Bruce was born in Rhodesia in 1970 with the family moving to the UK in 1980 when the country gained independence and was renamed Zimbabwe.
Bruce attended St Thomas More High School for Boys in Westcliff and although he always harboured an ambition to command a submarine in the Navy, ended up becoming a butcher, opening two of his own shops before a change of career. In 2005 Bruce started working for Tolhurst Fisher, a provincial law firm with offices in Southend and Hatfield Peverel as their Practice Manager.
Bruce was Initiated into Shoeburyness lodge No.6665 in 1995, becoming Master in 2004. Invested as Provincial Grand Steward in 2006 and Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2010. Joining Member of Essex Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No.8665 and Essex Masters Lodge No.3256. Promoted to PPJGW in 2020
Exalted into Albert Lucking Chapter No.2717 in 1996, serving as MEZ on two occasions. Founding Member of Chapter of True Friendship No.160. Invested as Provincial Grand Steward in 2010 and Provincial Grand Sword Bearer in 2013. Bruce is a subscribing member of seven Royal Arch Chapters including Essex Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No.8665 and Essex First Principals Chapter No.3256. Appointed PPGSN in 2019 and APGP with responsibility for Royal Arch Membership in 2020.
